New Honda Civic - Economic, Low Emissions and Performance

I do love a good old hatchback and one of my first cars was a Honda Civic so I have an emotional attachment to the Civic and this new model doesn't disappoint.

The Honda Civic was introduced 40 years ago in 1973 and sold well due to its high fuel-efficiency. It seems nothing has changed 40 years later as fuel efficiency is the words still on everyones lips in the motor industry. This latest Honda Civic offers on paper amazing fuel economy, low emissions and exciting performance.

To help fuel economy, it features the following:

  • Automatic stop-start
  • Selectable Eco programme
  • A gear change indicator
  • Low rolling resistance tyres
  • Driver aids such as an instant fuel consumption read out and lights either side of the speed indicator that turn through shades of blue to green depending on economy performance.

Honda claims emissions of 94g/km which means free road tax and combined fuel economy of 78.5mpg – these are the paper statistics so how does it do on the road?

Being British, it's nice to know at least some cars are still built in this country with the Civic, the Jazz and CR-V all built in the UK. Good work Honda! For more information, check out the new Honda Civic here
