Calling All Wannabe Race Car Drivers For TV Talent Show

Ever thought how cool it would be to drive a racing car on a Grand Prix circuit? Well, here's your chance to prove your driving skills in a competition called Make It Your Race (MIYR). The competition is in its 2nd year and is the brainchild of Abarth who if you're not familiar with them are a racing car maker founded by Carlo Abarth Turin in 1949.

The competition is looking for candidates to compete in a TV Talent Show for a place in a final face-off race in the Trofeo Abarth race series, providing the winner with the opportunity to race the legendary Monza circuit in Italy. Launching across 10 European countries, the MIYR challenge is targeting the social media generation to find not only a racing car driver but also designers, bloggers and paddock girls.

How to enter?

There will be a number of stages to qualify for a Boot Camp in Italy. The initial registration stage runs up until 15 July 2013, and brings a large social media element to the competition, with chances to:
  • Design the livery of the UK race car
  • Become the official MIYR blogger
  • Become a MIYR mechanic in the pit lane of Monza

Tough Competition!

With just 4 places available for each country, competition will be tough! From the 40 chosen ones, there will be just 7 finalists selected who will go on to race head to head in the Trofeo Abarth race series at Monza. With 30,000 entries to last year’s challenge from just 6 countries, competition will be fierce, but the experiences on offer should be tempting to anybody who believes they’ve really got ‘it’.

“This was a hugely successful European programme last year which was well-supported by rookie drivers from the UK,” says Ivan Gibson, head of Abarth UK. “As it’s based around social media – initial applications come via the Internet – we’re sure MIYR will help to further increase Abarth’s thriving fan base.

“Even people who don’t want to take part in the events will be able to follow the fortunes of the drivers that are in it. And you can’t argue with the chance to race at Monza.”
